Hallmark of the Disease

The cornoid lamella, a thin column of parakeratotic cells, is the histological hallmark of porokeratosis. It corresponds to the elevated keratotic border that surrounds the lesions and can be identified by including this portion of the lesion in the skin biopsy (Pierson, Bandel, Ehrig, & Cockerell, 2003).
