Abstract and Introduction

There are a variety of treatment options available for managing atopic dermatitis (AD). Topical corticosteroids remain the gold standard of care, while phototherapy and immunosuppressants may be reserved for patients who are refractory to first-line treatment options. Two clinical guidelines for the management of AD are evaluated for use by the advanced practice registered nurse (APRN): Disease Management of Atopic Dermatitis: An Updated Practice Parameter and Guidelines of Care for Atopic Dermatitis.
