Introduction

Obese patients are often embarrassed by their weight. They report feeling shamed by their healthcare providers because of their weight, and experiencing discomfort with routine procedures, such as being weighed or undergoing common medical screenings.[1] Perhaps not surprisingly, obese patients delay seeking medical care, cancel medical appointments, and have lower rates of receiving appropriate prevention-oriented examinations compared with thinner patients.[1,2,3,4,5]
