Many guidelines are available to the clinician for the management of acne. The most comprehensive, logical and peer-reviewed guidance is contained within the treatment algorithm published by the Global Alliance to Improve Outcomes in Acne,[13,14] authored by a panel of international dermatologists involved in the field of acne (Figure 1).
