The frequency of palladium sensitivity in a US patch-test population tested with palladium at a tertiary care center was 12.1%. Oral disease association was twice that of skin dermatitis and may be of particular significance in patients with BMS. Gold co-reactivity with palladium was almost as high as nickel co-reactivity, particularly in oral diseases. These preliminary findings raise many questions regarding the role of palladium in oral diseases and will need further validation in future studies.
