Abstract

This article briefly summarizes the variety of techniques that may be used to image the wrist and hand subsequent to trauma. Indications for advanced imaging techniques, including computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and ultrasound are discussed. Algorithms for detection of fractures, nonunion, avascular necrosis, and various ligament injuries are included to illustrate the ideal sequence of imaging for the more common conditions.
