Clearly, no single approach to the problem is likely to provide a complete understanding of AF and its treatment. As far as the aforementioned adjuvant therapies for AF are concerned, a better understanding of their mechanisms at the cellular level is needed. Unless newer antiarrhythmic agents with fewer side effects come into existence, adjuvant therapies will continue to be of considerable interest in the management of AF.
