Methods
We used a recently published database of all shampoos that are commercially available at Walgreens pharmacies (operated by Walgreen Co., Deerfield, IL).[5] For each shampoo, this database lists all allergens from the North American Contact Dermatitis Group (NACDG) screening panel that are present in the product. The database was created by a dermatologist with specific expertise in ACD. Using this database, we entered the name of each shampoo and the allergens in that shampoo into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet (Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, WA). Using filters, we then determined the number of shampoos that contained each allergen.
