Reassurance should be provided to parents of patients diagnosed with APEC that this is a benign, self-limiting disease. Parents or caretakers may be educated regarding proper skin care to relieve pruritus including application of moisturizing creams, hydrating creams, and topical corticosteroids. Finally, parents can be reassured that a patient may attend daycare as there is no evidence that this is a contagious disease.
