Medical therapy for ectopic pregnancy has become an accepted option to surgical removal in many instances. Medical therapy can be reasonably expected to be successful in 88 to 92% of cases. These success rates are even higher if only patients with relatively low hCG levels are treated. It is hoped that the information given in this article will aid the physician in deciding who is an appropriate candidate for therapy with methotrexate.
