Treatment of Diabetes

It has been demonstrated that treatment of type 2 diabetes can also decreases chronic inflammation. Thiazolidinediones are a class of drugs used to lower glucose concentrations in diabetics by increasing insulin sensitivity.[40] Diabeteic patients treated with rosiglitazone, within the thiazolidinediones class of drugs, reduced patients' glucose concentrations and their level of hsCRP.[41] Haffner has suggested that insulin-sensitizing agents such as rosiglitazone, reduce markers of subclinical inflammation.[42]
