Limitations of the Review of the Literature

This article has reviewed literature in relation to the benefits and challenges of breastfeeding, the incidence and duration of breastfeeding for preterm infants, and the barriers to the establishment of breastfeeding. Although numerous interventions designed to promote breastfeeding in preterm infants were included, the review did not address interventions including the use of nipple shields, test weighing, supply-line systems, and cup feeding, because there is a lack of evidence-based literature addressing the use of these interventions in preterm infants.
