Gastric Emptying
Cigarette smoking slows gastric emptying; it also produces excessive antrofundal redistribution of both solid and liquid gastric contents (Hanson & Lilja, 1987; Nowak et al., 1987; Gritz et al., 1988; Miller et al., 1989; Johnson et al., 1991; Scott et al., 1993).
