Introduction
The 2nd World Congress of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (WCPGHAN) met at the Palais des Congrès, Paris, France, July 3-7, 2004. This international event was organized under the umbrella of the Federation of International Societies of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (FISPGHAN). This report focuses on 2 "hot" areas in the field, as presented during these meeting proceedings: the global epidemic of obesity ("globesity") and its consequences, and the worldwide recognition that celiac disease is much more common than previously thought.
