Additional Diagnostic Studies

The following evaluations were performed due to severe failure to thrive and history of multiple infections:

Serology negative for hepatitis A, B, and C, as well as for HIV, cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Stool positive for fat

Thyroid studies: within normal limits

Sweat chloride 95 mmol/L (normal range, 0-40 mmol/L)

Immunoglobulin G 1330mg/dL (normal range, 217-904 mg/dL)

Immunoglobulin A 124mg/dL (normal range 11-90 mg/dL)

Immunoglobulin E 160 IU/ml (normal range 0.76-7.31 IU/ml)

Immunoglobulin M 114mg/dL (normal range 34-126 mg/dL)

CD4:CD8 ratio = 2.9

  • Echocardiogram: No cardiac abnormalities

  • Cranial ultrasound: Diffuse brain atrophy with widening of subarachnoid space
