Clearly, primary care providers see a large number of patients with the complaint of headache. The information regarding headaches as presented at the AFPPA 2003 conference is an excellent starting point for any provider interested in improving the quality of life of his or her patients. It is important to develop a clear understanding of the various presentations of headache with regard to red flags, unusual presentations, overlapping symptoms, appropriate management, and patient education.
