This year's meeting was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from May 4-8, 2002. Charles B. Hammond, MD, was installed as ACOG's 53rd president on May 8th, and ACOG has issued a "Red Alert" regarding the current medical malpractice crises. Most leaders in the field agreed that tort reform must control costs, and Congress must take the lead. The presentations in obstetrics were excellent, and this report will include some of the current ACOG debates in obstetrics and review the most current literature that was discussed at the meeting.
