Immunohistochemical studies were done on deparaffined 5 mm sections with a robotic immunostainer (Ventana ES, Ventana Medical Systems, Tucson, Ariz) using the avidin-biotin complex. Reaction product was visualized by the chromogen diaminobenzidine. Monoclonal antibodies used in this study were CD1a, and S100 at 1:100 and 1:1600 dilution (Dako, Carpinteria, Calif). All sections were antigen retrieved using steam heating for 15 minutes in 0.01 M citric acid. Appropriate positive controls known to contain the antigens were processed at the same time.
