Adverse Effects

Rocuronium is generally well tolerated. According to the manufacturer, there are no adverse events that occur in greater than 1% of the patients studied.[5] Rocuronium is notable for cardiovascular stability and lack of histamine release. Slight increases in heart rate and blood pressure may occur, and arrhythmias have been reported in <1% of treated patients. Other rare events include bronchospasm, rash, pruritis and injection site edema. As with all neuromuscular blockers, rocuronium has the potential to cause anaphylactic reactions.[1,3,5,16]
