Functional MRI is a method with superb temporal and spatial resolution and has rapidly emerged as a powerful tool for behavioral neurologists and cognitive neuroscientists. New approaches in fMRI experimental design and data analysis are appearing in the literature at an almost exponential rate, leading to numerous options for testing questions regarding brain-behavior relationships. Combined with other methods, such as lesion studies, fMRI studies are providing us with new insights regarding the organization of the cerebral cortex as well as the neural mechanisms that underlie cognition.
