Treat Underlying Causes
Treatment of underlying causes or exacerbating factors (if one can be identified) is frequently effective in the relief of RLS.[1] Patients with iron deficiency often respond well to iron therapy, and folate supplements are beneficial in those with folic acid deficiency. Kidney transplantation or treatment with erythropoietin can relieve RLS associated with renal failure and uraemia.[1,2]
