About this Series

In response to precision medicine, oncology nurses are expanding their expertise into genetics and genomics to help cancer patients understand test results that inform their diagnostic and treatment strategies. Nurses are engaging in translational research, extending their role as patient advocates, and generally redefining their time-honored focus on patient care.

Nursing leaders at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City and the National Institute of Nursing Research in Bethesda, Maryland, along with oncology nurses across the United States, examine the challenges and opportunities facing nurses and their patients in the new paradigm of precision nursing.
