Why is a complete physical exam required for evaluation of Henoch-Schönlein purpura (IgA vasculitis)?

Because IgAV can affect all organ systems, a full physical examination is indicated. Purpura of the skin is the most prominent physical finding in IgAV, but kidney, GI, and joint manifestations are commonly present. Other manifestations have also been reported.
