Answer

Cytokines have been implicated in the pathogenesis of IgAV, and endothelins (ETs), which are vasoconstrictor hormones produced by endothelial cells, may also have a role. levels of ET-1 are substantially higher during the acute phase of the disease than during remission or in a control group of children. However, ET-1 levels do not appear to be correlated with morbidity, severity of disease, or acute-phase reactant response.
