The frequency of epistaxis is difficult to determine because most episodes resolve with self-treatment and, therefore, are not reported. [16] However, when multiple sources are reviewed, the lifelong incidence of epistaxis in the general population is about 60%, with fewer than 10% seeking medical attention. [7, 17, 16]
