Answer

Patients with postoperative bleeding present with neck swelling, neck pain, and/or signs and symptoms of airway obstruction (eg, dyspnea, stridor, hypoxia). Immediately examine such patients for evidence of hematoma. Imaging studies are of no benefit in the initial stage of evaluation.
