What are the complications of tibia and fibula fracture?

The following complications may be noted:

  • Neurovascular compromise

  • Compartment syndrome

  • Peroneal nerve injury

  • Infection

  • Gangrene

  • Osteomyelitis

  • Delayed union, nonunion, or malunion

  • Amputation or skin loss

  • Posttraumatic arthritis

  • Fat embolism
