What is the prevalence of warfarin and superwarfarin toxicity in the US?

According to American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) data,1136 single exposures to pharmaceutical warfarin were reported in 2018. Children younger than 6 years accounted for 175 exposures, and persons older than 19 years accounted for 867. Unintentional cases were 201, and intentional cases were 4. Major outcomes occurred in 22 cases and no deaths were reported. [7]

In addition, the AAPCC reported 210 single exposures to warfarin-type anticoagulant rodenticides, with 169 involving children younger than 6 years. Exposure was unintentional in 179 cases and intentional in 5 cases. No major outcomes or deaths were reported. [7]
