Answer

An intravenous (IV) formulation of acetaminophen (Ofirmev) was approved by the FDA in 2011 for inpatient use in children older than 2 years to treat fever and pain. [11] Although this article focuses on single acute ingestions of oral formulations, iatrogenic medication errors with IV acetaminophen have caused hepatotoxicity. [12] The evaluation and treatment approach for an IV acetaminophen overdose is similar to that of an oral overdose.
