Admit patients with the following conditions:

  • Risk for suicide

  • Intractable emesis

  • Altered mental status

  • Neurologic symptoms

  • Serious coingestions

  • Severe dehydration

  • Metabolic derangements - Eg, hypercalcemia, severe electrolyte abnormalities, ECG changes, renal or liver damage)
