Complications of epistaxis and treatment include the following:

  • Hemorrhagic shock

  • Septic shock

  • Pneumocephalus

  • Sinusitis [9]

  • Septal pressure necrosis

  • Neurogenic syncope during packing

  • Epiphora (from blockage of the lacrimal duct)

  • Hypoxia (from impaired nasal air movement)

  • Staphylococcal toxic shock syndrome
