Periorbital cellulitis represents the first of the 5 nonprogressive types of orbital infections. These are classified as follows [3] :

  • Group 1 - Preseptal cellulitis

  • Group 2 - Orbital cellulitis

  • Group 3 - Subperiosteal abscess

  • Group 4 - Orbital abscess

  • Group 5 - Cavernous sinus thrombosis
