Complications of headache may include the following:

  • Overreliance on nonprescription caffeine-containing analgesics

  • Dependence on/addiction to narcotic analgesics

  • GI bleed from use of NSAIDs

  • Risk of epilepsy 4 times greater than that of the general population

  • Medication overuse headache
