In January 2015, the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) issued guidelines for the management of atherosclerotic occlusive disease of the lower extremities. [14] In November 2016, the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) issued a guideline on the management of lower-extremity peripheral artery disease. [15]  In August 2017, the European Society of cardiology (ESC), in collaboration with the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS), issued guidelines for the management of peripheral arterial disease.
