Risk factors for CBP include the following:

  • Intraprostatic ductal reflux and prostatic calculi
  • Other infections (eg, acute epididymitis, urinary tract infections)
  • Phimosis 
  • Unprotected penetrative anal intercourse
  • Manipulation of the lower urinary tract
  • Secretory dysfunction of prostate gland
