Priapism has been described at nearly all ages, from infancy through old age. A bimodal distribution has been noted, with peaks at 5-10 years and 20-50 years. [16] Cases in younger groups are more often associated with SCD, while those in older groups tend to be secondary to pharmacologic agents.
