What are the treatment recommendations for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in patients who have had cancer?

Recommendations for RA patients with a previous history of treated or untreated malignancy are as follows [4] :

  • Skin cancer (non-melanoma or melanoma) -  DMARDS are recommended over biologics or tofacitinib
  • Previously treated lymphoproliferative disorder - Rituximab is recommended over an anti-TNF biologic
  • Previously treated solid organ malignancy - Recommendations are the same as those for patients without this condition
