How is pyogenic arthritis differentiated from rheumatoid arthritis (RA)?

Pyogenic arthritis can be distinguished by chills and fever, demonstration of the causative organism in joint fluid, and the frequent presence of a primary focus elsewhere (eg, gonococcal arthritis).
