Answer

There is substantial evidence regarding the short-term benefits of therapy on pain and function, with long-term effectiveness improved with adherence to home-based exercise programs. However, Bennell et al reported that in 74 patients with medial knee osteoarthritis who completed a 12-week physiotherapist-supervised exercise trial, the addition of two 30-minute physiotherapy booster sessions had no significant influence on pain, physical function outcomes, or measures of home exercise adherence.
