Answer

Belimumab (Benlysta) is an anti–B-lymphocyte stimulator [BLyS] monoclonal antibody). [68] It has been found to have beneficial effects on clinical and laboratory parameters in patients with active SLE. [69] In addition, the number of B cells and serum IgM were reduced over time. [70]

Belimumab was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in patients with active SLE who are autoantibody-positive and are receiving standard therapy, including corticosteroids, antimalarials, immunosuppressives, and NSAIDs.
