Answer

In an open-label pilot study of 10 patients with refractory acute gout treated with the interleukin (IL)-1 antagonist anakinra, pain was substantially reduced in all patients within 2 days, without side effects. Clinical signs of inflammation had disappeared in 9 of 10 patients by day 3 of treatment. [183]
