Several drugs have been implicated as possibly responsible for induction of CPPD. [36, 41]  These include loop diuretics and proton pump inhibitors, both of which are associated with hypomagnesemia, and bisphosphonates. However, the role of these drugs in CPPD is controversial; they may even be protective. Anecdotal evidence links hyaluronic acid and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor as risk factors. Pseudogout attacks have been reportedly induced by etidronate disodium therapy and angiography. [42, 43]
