Answer

Answer

Heterotopic ossification may result in functional impairment, and patients may require surgical excision. To minimize risk of recurrence, surgical excision has traditionally been delayed 12-18 months to allow the heterotopic bone to mature. However, authors have questioned this delay. [7]
