The laboratory workup should include the following:

  • Complete blood count (CBC)

  • Electrolytes

  • Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine

  • Prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT)

  • Cholesterol level

  • Lipid profile
