  • Central pontine myelinolysis

  • Metastatic disease of the brain

  • Subarachnoid hemorrhage

  • Basilar meningitis

  • Basilar migraine

  • Cerebellopontine angle tumors

  • Supratentorial hemispheric mass lesions with mass effect, herniation, and brainstem compression
