Answer

Combining plasma and IVIG has not been found to improve outcomes or shorten illness duration in GBS. [126] However, some clinicians prefer to try plasma exchange first, and if this does not provide patient improvement then they go to IVIG. Theoretically, if IVIG is given first, then the plasma exchange will be removing the IVIG, which was just given days earlier. There are no randomized controlled trials that allow one to decide on the best plan.
