Typical respiratory complaints in GBS include the following:

  • Dyspnea on exertion

  • Shortness of breath

  • Difficulty swallowing

  • Slurred speech

Ventilatory failure with required respiratory support occurs in up to one third of patients at some time during the course of their disease.
