  • Primary infections

  • Bronchial obstruction

  • Aspiration

  • Primary ciliary dyskinesia

  • Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis

  • Immunodeficiency states

  • Congenital anatomic defects

  • Connective-tissue disorders

  • Autoimmune diseases

  • Idiopathic inflammatory disorders

  • Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease

  • Traction from other processes

  • Toxic gas exposure
