Common diagnostic criteria include documentation of blood glucose level

  • Increased plasma insulin level (≥6 μU/ml)
  • Increased C peptide level (≥0.2 nmol/l)
  • Increased proinsulin level (≥5 pmol/l)

Once the diagnosis of insulinoma has been established biochemically, imaging studies are used to localize the tumor.
