How are insulinomas clinically characterized?

Insulinomas are characterized clinically by the Whipple triad, as follows:

  • Presence of symptoms of hypoglycemia (about 85% of patients)

  • Documented low blood sugar at the time of symptoms

  • Reversal of symptoms by glucose administration
